We hate to break it to you, but winter is officially over now. Which means that it’s time to restock our wardrobes with transeasonal pieces that will see us through those awkward in-between months, as we move into winter. The cooler months tend to call for layering items – especially those that are locally or fairly-made – responsible denim and a few pops of colour, to break up those overcast days.

So below, we’re taking the guesswork out of curating a winter capsule wardrobe and gathering five staple pieces that will help you transition seamlessly into the cooler months ahead. You are welcome!

1) A locally-made turtleneck

Nothing helps beat the winter blues like a cosy turtleneck in a bright burgundy hue. Like this locally-made Woolerina turtleneck, which is crafted in a fair supply chain, using lightweight Merino wool that is both cosy and perfect for layering with all winter long.

2) Minimal waste denim

Denim is one of the hardiest and most versatile fabrics, which is why it will always have a place in our winter capsule wardrobes. But it can also be one of the most impactful product categories, which is why it is important to choose responsible denim instead – like Nudie’s minimal waste, sustainable styles, which are crafted in a transparent supply chain.

3) A sustainable jacket

Since the weather tends to oscillate wildly around this time of year, we find the perfect layering jacket is a must for transeasonal dressing. Enter Kowtow’s boxy, sustainable style that is both directional and colourful. Perfect for combatting dreary winter days, this style is also cut from sustainable organic cotton.

4) Fairly-made shirting

A dreamy shirt is the perfect addition to any winter capsule wardrobe, because it can be layered underneath dresses or jackets, and paired with denim or skirts alike. We are particularly fond of the Selma Shirt by Lonely, which is fairly-made in Child Labour Free accredited facilities.

5) Veja sneakers, made in a transparent supply chain

When the weather is wet and windy out, the most comfortable way to anchor any great winter look is with a sturdy pair of sneakers. Veja’s fairly-made and sustainable styles will help you trudge through miserable winter afternoons, while still looking chic. And did we mention that they are made in a transparent supply chain?
