Why A Black Coat Is My Winter Wardrobe Staple

My Five Piece Winter Wardrobe isn’t really so different from my summer rotation to be honest – blue denim, sustainable basics, handcrafted accessories and a little black dress. There is one notable difference, though, and that is the perfect black coat.

A black coat is hands-down my winter wardrobe staple. Not all black coats are created equal, though, and I would argue that there are plenty of fast fashion versions on the market right now, which just don’t cut it in terms of durability or ‘weathering’ the actual storm.

For this reason, I tend to gravitate towards a high quality black coat instead, preferably crafted from sustainable materials. Enter the Black Overcoat by Kowtow

This knee-length overcoat looks as luxurious as it feels. Made out of certified ZQ merino wool from New Zealand and recycled nylon, it is fully lined with cotton cupro and fastens with a single corozo button. It also has the option of a wide fabric belt, for cinching in at the waist.

The ZQ certification ensures that farmers commit to the highest grade of animal welfare, environmental care and social responsibility. Because I like my wardrobe staples to look good and be good too.

For the Black Overcoat, Kowtow has blended its ZQ certified wool with certified Global Recycled Standard (GRS) recycled nylon to create a warm and luxurious fabric that is both kind to animals and to the environment.

This is the kind of coat that makes getting dressed on chilly mornings a breeze, basically, because it is well-made, warm as a giant blanket and it goes with literally everything else in my wardrobe.
