We love a good hair scrunchie. There is something perfectly nostalgic about them and we can never have too many. Which is why we're thrilled that Frankie Magazine has released a Do It Yourself Guide to making your own hair scrunchie.

It is super easy and requires only basic sewing skills (which is something we're trying to brush up on, now that we're going out less and staying home more).

Here's how.

YOU'LL NEED

Fabric of your choice
Fabric scissors
Matching thread
1/2 metre elastic
A sewing machine
Sewing needle

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Cut a rectangle of fabric for your scrunchie (24 x 45cm for a larger style and 16 x 45cm for a smaller style)
2. Fold the rectangle in half lengthways. Then stitch the folded rectangle into a tube, with a 0.5cm seam allowance
3. Turn the tube right-side out. You can use a pencil or chopstick to help push all the fabric through
4. Cut a piece of elastic (27cm long for small scrunchies or 31cm long for large scrunchies). Thread it through the tube and tie it in a tight knot. The fabric tube should naturally scrunch up around the elastic
5. Turn the raw edges of the tube under and hand-stitch all the way around the edge to close your scrunchie

Now channel your favourite Eighties icons and wear your scrunchie everywhere (read: for Zoom meetings and/or FaceTime wines).
