Finding the perfect pair of jeans is like the holy grail of Autumnal dressing. But ‘perfect’ is a highly subjective notion under any circumstances, let alone in the denim department. Most women I know are highly selective about their favourite jeans – some like them skinny with good stretch factor, others prefer the comfort of a wide leg or the statement of a directional design.

For me, it differs depending on the specific occasion. But once you find that core rotation of denim, it is that much easier to get dressed of a morning. So below we’re rounding up five of the best pairs of jeans to suit every individual style.

1) SKINNY

The Hightop Tilde Jeans by Nudie.

Nudie Jeans are known for their sustainable denim and few brands on the market do them quite so well. These skinny jeans are the ones we're wearing every day. High and firm through the waist and slim through the leg to the ankle, they come in the perfect raven black wash for ultimate versatility.

2) STRAIGHT

The Project 1 Jeans in Light Wash by Denim, Made Good.

The Project 1 Jeans are the perfect pair of vintage-inspired straight leg jeans, created in one of the most sustainable fabrics available: hemp. This fibre uses 50% less water to grow than cotton and actually returns 60% of the nutrients back to the soil. With a high waist and a slim silhouette, these are the perfect straight leg blue jeans.

3) WIDE LEG

The Stage Pant by Kowtow.

Kowtow denim is crafted from 100% organic cotton denim and uses Global Organic Textiles Standard (GOTS) approved water-based ink dyes. Which means that they are free from any nasty chemicals. The Stage Pant is ultra comfy in a classic wide leg cut, with a high-waist.

4) CROPPED

The Aubrey Jean in Black by Denimsmith.

The Aubrey is a high-rise straight jean with cropped proportions through the leg and a little stretch for everyday comfort. Fairly-made in a transparent supply chain in Australia, this black jean looks good and it is good too.

5) DIRECTIONAL

The Calder Jean in Patchwork by Arnsdorf.

Certain occasions call for more of a statement jean and, fortunately, the Calder Jean in Patchwork definitely checks this box. Crafted from organic cotton, this denim is left raw and is dyed using a natural traditional indigo pigment. The high-waisted silhouette is inspired by a sailor style jean and uses both sides of the denim for a directional style statement.
