We’re Going Gorpcore For Our Summer Holidays

by: Well Made Clothes Staff | 6 months ago | News

Image: our take on Gorpcore. Would we call this 'refined gorpcore'? 'White tee and blue jeans with gorpcore detailing'?

Gorpcore has been around for a while now, and everyone from that hot barista at our local café to our dad (arguably the original purveyor of this trend) are wearing Patagonia Synch Snaps and cargo shorts to declare to the world that they go hiking occasionally, that they care about the environment a lot, and that they make clothing decisions accordingly. Which is excellent: as long as people are purchasing clothing by labels which actually reduce their environmental impact where possible, this is a trend we can get behind and get our behinds, long may it continue.

The other great thing about gorpcore? It’s incredibly practical and incredibly comfortable. I didn’t know it was possible to be as comfortable as I am when I’m strapped into my Teva sandals, which I now wear all the time, and which I’ve delightfully explained the benefits of to several skeptics (often on dates, often slightly too animatedly). Which is to say we’re embracing gorpcore for all our summer weekends away, whether they involve long walks in the mountains, or short walks to the pub.
