5 Sale Pieces We’re Wearing To Channel Jo From Little Women

Image: Channelling that 19th Century aesthetic as Jo from Little Women.

I, like every other 35-year-old woman I know, love period dramas. I fall asleep listening to the 2005 film adaptation of Pride & Prejudice embarrassingly frequently, and the first time I went to the UK all I wanted to do was go to the Lake District to visit the historical houses where my favourite period dramas are set. The fountain at Chatsworth House was out of order which was disappointing, but apart from that it was a great time.

Which is to say, I’m pretty (understatement) excited about Greta Gerwig’s film adaptation of Little Women. Between Saoirse Ronan as Jo, Meryl Streep as Aunt March, and Timothée Chalamett wearing billowing semi-sheer shirts, it sounds wonderful, and even if it’s not wonderful, I’ll thoroughly enjoy it for the costumes because I thoroughly enjoy a puffy sleeve dress and a poet blouse (and apparently they’re ~on trend~ atm, which is convenient for me).  Here, then, are the 5 sale pieces I’m wearing when I stand on windswept hilltop pretending I’m a fledgling novelist.

1. The puff sleeve dress, the Midday Dress by Again & Again

2. The sensible lace-up shoes, the 1461 3 Eye Shoes by Dr. Martens

3. The classic organic cotton crew neck jumper, the Escape Crew by Kowtow

4. The organic cotton poet top, the Painter Top by Kowtow

5. The classic black pants, the Composer Pants by Kowtow
