Oh, so you didn’t think Julia Roberts was still the queen of the red carpet? Big mistake. Big. Huge! In 1999, Julia Roberts rocked armpit hair on the red carpet like it was no big deal (because it is no big deal!!!). At the premiere of Notting Hill, Roberts paired her red sequinned dress with luscious hairy pits. Many have since speculated about whether Roberts intended to make a ~feminist statement~ by revealing her armpit hair. The actress recently spoke about this iconic look for the first time, saying that armpit hair is just something that most human woman have.

"I think I just hadn't calculated my sleeve length and the waving and how those two things would go together and reveal personal things about me," Roberts said. "So, it wasn't so much a statement as it’s just part of the statement I make as a human on the planet, for myself.”

Today, Roberts made another statement on the red carpet by wearing a Stella McCartney pantsuit to the Golden Globes. The actress sported a stunning tulle top and black cigarette pants on the red carpet. The sleek look was custom-made by one of the world’s most progressive and outspoken sustainable designers. When she’s not making clothing out of environmentally friendly materials, McCartney is advocating for change in the fashion industry and collaborating with the UN to make sure that change actually happens.

Whether it was intended as a sustainable statement or not, Roberts’ outfit stands for something pretty, pretty cool. And it looks great too!
