Stella McCartney is already recognised for its responsible production practices, including using only vegan materials, and now the luxury fashion label is teaming up with Parley for the Oceans to find new uses for plastic ocean waste, too.

According to sustainablebrands.com, Stella McCartney is partnering with Parley for the Oceans to use the nonprofit’s recycled plastic yarn in her footwear, accessories, and outerwear products.

The collaboration will be released in July, and while there aren’t any details of which specific products will be produced in the yarn, McCartney said: “To take something that is destructive and turn it into something that’s sexy and cool, how can that not be luxury?”.

We await this collaboration with bated brief, and will update you when we know more.

Parley for the Ocean is known for cult collaborations with global labels. The most prominent of which is probably its work with ADIDAS: the two organisations worked together to create a series of high-performance products with using recycled ocean waste including a 3D-printed innersole and an UltraBOOST sneaker.
