What To Wear When The Weather Won't Make Up Its Mind

The weather is swinging like a pendulum at the moment. And, although we’re still in the depths of winter, we have been thrown some surprisingly warm days of late. Which is worrying for the state of the planet (hello climate change), as well as for our quote-unquote ‘winter wardrobes’. This is why we’re trying to focus on items with built-in versatility right now, which can be worn once the weather warms up as well.

Layering is key to our transseasonal capsule wardrobes, then, and so is sustainability. Because we figure that this is the least we can do to help combat said climate change and make a positive impact through our purchasing habits. The below three pieces are the ones helping us through this perpetual guessing game of what to wear when the weather won’t make up its mind.

1) Sustainable tops, for wardrobe acrobatics

Light and cosy knits or long-sleeve tops can easily be layered underneath or over the top of your favourite slip dresses. Which means that they can also be taken off, if and when the sun decides to come out during the day. I like to think of this as wardrobe acrobatics, because it means you can easily adapt your look to stay comfortable right throughout the day.

2) Timeless blue denim, for every day

A great pair of blue jeans is a failsafe option for when you’re not sure what the weather is going to do. Not too heavy – just in case things heat up – but still hardy enough to keep you protected from the elements on those true winter days. Plus, blue denim is versatile enough to be worn with just about anything, from bulky coats to lighter jackets.

3) A pair of sneakers, for running around town in

Whether it is bucketing with rain or the sun is shining bright, a pair of sneakers will always have your back. Ultra-comfortable for running around town in, they also work with everything from jeans to dresses. Veja sneakers are a particular favourite here, because they are made in a transparent, low impact supply chain.
