Our thoughts are with all of our community currently affected by COVID-19 and governmental restrictions. Especially this week, as Melbourne enters Stage Four lockdown and NSW continues to remain on high alert.

With mask-wearing mandatory in public in Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire, and recommended in public in NSW, we are thankful that some of our favourite local labels with ethical values are now making masks that blend fashion with function. While these are mostly non-medical masks, many of the locally-made styles do comply with DHHS guidelines and are made from responsible surplus fabrics like linen and organic cotton.

So here is our updated list of some of the best local brands now making masks.

1) Arnsdorf

One of our Well Made labels that’s now making masks is Arnsdorf. These masks are made from three layers of sustainable offcut fabrics like Japanese organic cotton rib jersey. The first drop of masks has now sold out, but the brand is taking pre-orders for its next drop, which will be available August 14th.

2) Limb

Another one of our Well Made labels making masks right now is Limb. We especially love their Gingham Mask, which is reusable and reversible. And they also have a Cotton Check option still available. These masks follow DHHS guidelines and are made using two layers of linen with a cotton voile in-between for extra protection.

3) Kalaurie

Victorian label Kalaurie is currently producing reusable and washable masks, which are mindfully made in Melbourne using two layers of offcut fabric and lined with gentle 100% cotton. There are a few options to choose from and these masks are now available to pre-order, with a lead time of 3-5 days once purchased.

4) Par Moi

Par Moi is regularly restocking their fun mask styles, but you have to be quick to get in with each drop. So keep an eye out for these fruity and floral masks online and over on the brand’s Instagram page.
